My Personal Fundraising Page

Hi, I'm Camila. ♥︎

This year, I’m proud to be a 2026 Big Wig for Carolina Breast Friends, and I’ll be wearing my pink wig in memory of someone very special: my mom, Myriam.

I was sixteen when my mother passed away after a seven-year battle with breast cancer. I remember her strength and kindness all those years, and I also remember her rocking her (brown) wig. Watching her walk through that journey shaped who I am today. Her resilience continues to inspire me in everything I do,  as a professional, as a mom, and now as a Big Wig.

I often think about how different her experience might have been if she had access to an organization like Carolina Breast Friends — a place like The Pink House, where Survivors and Thrivers are supported, understood, and surrounded by community. That’s why this cause means so much to me.

A Little About Me

I was born in Venezuela and later moved to the US to pursue my master’s degree at NC State (where I met my husband, Travis!). Today, we’re raising two energetic little ones, ages two and four, which means I’ve officially traded running races for chasing toddlers.

I work at JE Dunn Construction, as a precon manager for civic/ institutional projects. I’m passionate about building work that strengthens our community. Through JE Dunn I began volunteering at The Pink House (roughly 10 years ago, thanks to my good friend Bob Hillis). What started as volunteering has grown into serving on the Advisory Council and now, becoming a Big Wig.

Fun fact: I’ve donated my hair five times to different organizations, 3 times to Wigs for Kids.

Why I’m Wiggin’ Out

I believe if we are blessed with health, talents and/ or money, we should use these things to serve others. Being a Big Wig is a way of supporting and serving those who are fighting trough Breast Cancer. It is my way of standing beside Survivors and Thrivers and saying: You are not alone, you've got this!

This year’s theme is about using our superpowers for good — and I believe kindness is one of the greatest superpowers we have.

Why I Said Yes to the Wig

Where You’ll See Me in My Pink Wig

You’ll probably see me at:

  • My office at JE Dunn Charlotte Office
  • Chasing my kids around, taking them to their multiple activities and keeping up with their busy social life.
  • Church on Sunday morning with my family.

Wherever I go, I’ll be sharing why Carolina Breast Friends matters — and how others can help.

How You Can Be Part of This

I’ll be rallying my coworkers, friends, family, and community to support Carolina Breast Friends and the free programs they provide for Survivors and Thrivers.

Every dollar raised stays local. Every donation helps provide mentorship, wellness programs, support groups, comfort care bags, wigs, and a safe place to land at The Pink House.

Thank you for supporting this mission!

Donate today and help ensure no one faces breast cancer alone.

Pink the Pavement Run

To finalize my Wiggin Out campaign we are partnering with OMB Run Club for a fun-(run)-draiser event at OMB (LOSO) onTuesday, April 28th! Run or walk at your own pace, we are here to raise awareness for Carolina Breast Friends and Pink the Pavement with your support!

Post run there will be a raffle and opportunity to enjoy a classic OMB beverage. Come out and meet a few of your CBF Big Wigs and learn about how CBF supports our breast cancer community.
