Vicki Bailey, DNP
Hi, I’m Vicki.
Originally from Wisconsin, I moved to Charlotte about 15 years ago and quickly fell in love with this community. I’m a Nurse Practitioner specializing in perioperative medicine, developing surgical pathways to improve patient outcomes. Clinically, I meet with patients before surgery to ensure they are optimized and prepared, because preparation can make all the difference.
In addition to my healthcare career, my husband and I own Flight, a restaurant in Elizabeth. Thanks to our incredible leadership team, I’m able to continue focusing on improving healthcare outcomes while also enjoying the hospitality world.
I also serve on the ERAS Cardiac Society Executive Board, which allows me to travel internationally, collaborate with healthcare professionals, and teach providers how to improve patient outcomes in their own systems.
Outside of work, you’ll find me spending time with my husband, our three pups, and our two adult daughters. I love traveling, meeting new people, and learning about wines from around the globe.
Why This Matters to Me
Breast cancer awareness and prevention are deeply personal to me.
In 2002, I had a pre-cancerous mass removed from my breast. That experience reinforced the importance of vigilance and yearly screenings — something I continue to prioritize.
Breast cancer has also touched my family. My cousin, Robin, is a survivor, and my aunt, Linda, is currently fighting breast cancer. Watching loved ones walk through this journey changes you. It strengthens your resolve to advocate, educate, and support.
As a healthcare provider, I understand how critical early detection and supportive resources are. As a family member, I understand the emotional weight that comes with a diagnosis.
What Being a Big Wig Means to Me
For me, being a Big Wig is about awareness and action.
It’s about bringing visibility to the realities of breast cancer, raising funds for research and vital support services, and strengthening the safety net available to individuals and families impacted by this disease.
It’s also about community: showing up, starting conversations, and reminding people that resources like Carolina Breast Friends truly make a difference.
Why I Said Yes to the Wig
