Last year, donations and fundriasing made a big impact on the patients and families cared for by BMC’s Emergency Medicine teams. Here are a couple of ways Winter Walk funds are supporting unhoused families:

• Winter Care packages distributed at the ED to support migrant families new to Boston and winter weather. These included winter clothes, facemasks, formula, bottles, etc.
• New furnishings for common spaces in BMC’s Community Crisis Stabilization Unit, including a stocked reading nook and coffee corner, as well as a barber’s chair for haircuts, and supplies for birthday parties and celebrations. The Unit provides a place of respite and connections to behavioral health and other care 24/7.
