This February, I will be participating in the 2025 Winter Walk in support of the Ignatian Spirituality Project. Through spiritual companionship and storytelling, ISP invites people recovering from homelessness and addiction into Loving community with God, others, and themselves.
This week marks the 12th since my dad's passing and the 1st since baby Harrison was born. As we celebrate the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, I am reflecting on the innumerable people who struggle with addiction like my dad did, but whose circumstances are dramatically different than his were. I wrote about this dynamic a couple years ago; it never ceases to move me.
Especially now, I ache for the world I long to see, for our country, for our city, and for my baby. This small act feels especially meaningful to me this year.
