Every 15 minutes in the United States, a baby is born with a congenital heart defect, making CHDs the most common birth defect in our country. The Congenital Heart Walk is dedicated to making a difference. Our mission is clear - we aim to raise funds to support The Children's Heart Foundation in its quest to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CHDs by funding groundbreaking research.

Lila June Kelley 5/13/23 - 11/5/23
At our 20-week ultrasound we found out that we were blessed with another little girl but, not just any girl a special heart warrior girl! After many appointments, test and procedures we had an idea of what the future was going to look like for our family. We were ready for this journey Lila was going to take us on…. we love adventures.
May 13th, 2023, at 35 weeks Lila was ready to make her appearance, 3lbs 8oz and full of sass!. We were overjoyed by how good she was doing. Finally, it was time for the first of many procedures she would need, PDA Stent. While in the Cath lab her vessel spasmed and needed to be rushed into open chest surgery to place a BTT shunt in place of the PDA. Lila recovered great and after 2 months at C.S Mott Children’s Hospital (U of M) we were getting discharged to bring our girl home.
After 20 days Lila decided she missed everyone at Mott, and we were getting chauffeured back to Mott via Life EMS for respiratory failure. Since this time around was unexpected, we did not have housing in place, with open arms the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Ann Arbor welcomed us into their home. We could go on for days talking about how amazing the RMHC are!
Our sweet Lila girl gained her angel wings Nov 5, 2023 due to many medical complications.. Lila may have only been here for a short time, but she has made a huge impact and has forever changed our life. We are forever grateful for our time together as she taught us so much about life. Lila was brought to us for a reason; we believe that reason is to help people who have to walk in the same shoes we have been in.
After receiving Lila’s life insurance money, we knew we had to give back somehow. Instantly we thought of CS Mott and RMHC Ann Arbor as they both were essential in Lila’s care. Working with RMHC Ann Arbor we have created Lila’s Fund. Lila’s Fund will continue to provide support for ALL families who are staying at RMHC Ann Arbor, Lila’s fund will supply gift cards for the “Our House to Yours” bags. This gift would ensure we have gift cards available for many families when they need vital support in their journey.
Lila has forever changed our life. We want her to continue changing the lives of other families in a positive way, by supporting a cause that impacts families directly.
