WHO WE ARE

The USS Cleveland Legacy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit leading a once-in-a-generation effort: Hosting a U.S. Navy warship, the future USS Cleveland (LCS 31), its crew and their family members for the first-ever commissioning ceremony to be held in the city of Cleveland and state of Ohio.

OUR MISSION

To send USS Cleveland to the Fleet with the greatest start possible, support her crew throughout their service, and return her home as a museum and memorial after decommissioning. We will unite our city behind its namesake ship in an unprecedented way.

WHY YOU MATTER

This is an opportunity to launch a warship on our shores, honor our region’s deep patriotic roots, and inspire a new generation of leaders, Sailors, and citizens. No city has done what Cleveland is doing.

PHASE I - COMMISSIONING (NOW-2025)

Provide a world-class, never-before-seen commissioning week with signature events and full crew and family support. We will send-off the ship with custom Cleveland-themed decor.

PHASE II - SHIP SERVICE LIFE (2026-2045+)

Sponsor-a-Sailor program. Morale, Welfare, and Recreation events for crew and their families. Careeer transition programs & Veteran job placement in Northeast Ohio.

PHASE III - MUSEUM & MEMORIAL (2045+)

Return USS Cleveland home as a permanent museum to serve as a tribute to all Navy ships named after our city, and be a center for youth education, veteran activities, and civic pride.
