Wade's Story
On April 12th, 2013, the Kramer family’s lives changed forever. The morning started with a trip to Blank Children’s Hospital for testing on why Wade Kramer, age 3 (son of J.P. & Kara Kramer), had a limp. Kara had a terrible suspicion she was about to find out her son had Leukemia. Shortly after Wade had his finger poked to run blood tests, they received a phone call that their best friend and Godmother to their children, Shay Grundmann Jefford, age 40, had passed away from Breast Cancer. Later that evening, Kara’s suspicions were confirmed - Wade had Type B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. One battle ended, and another began. It’s hard to believe that Shay’s death coinciding with Wade’s diagnosis was a coincidence. Perhaps she knew she had work to do... What better Guardian Angel than your Godmother?
