Virtual Questions

Why is this event virtual?

In the aftermath of the civil unrest in the twin cities and the COVID-19 pandemic, 1 in 8 minnesotans don't know where their next meal is coming from. That's why it was imperative to continue the tradtion of Walk to End Hunger. In order to keep you and your family safe, the Walk to End Hunger is going virtual this year. We are staying in compliance with the Governors orders to avoid large gatherings, while still allowing you to raise money to fight hunger.

How do I walk if the event is virtual?

You're welcome to "walk" however you'd like!

Here are some ideas:

  • Take a walk around the block with your family and talk about what you're thankful for!
  • Head over to the Mall of America before Thanksgiving and walk around the mall and pretend like you're at the Walk to End Hunger! The Mall of America is closed on Thanksgiving - so go before the event!
  •  Walk around the grocery store and grab some items to donate to our of our partner organizations!

You can "walk" however you'd like this year - just make sure to use #walktoendhunger to let us know how you're doing it!

How do I watch the program?

The program will be broadcast live on both the Walk to End Hunger YouTube channel, and on the Walk to End Hunger's Facebook page at 10:00 a.m on Thanksgiving morning. The link will also be sent the day before Thanksgiving to all who registered. To find out more about the Virtual Program and what to expect, visit the About Page here.

I volunteered in the past, are there any volunteer opportunities still?

Stay tuned for potential volunteer opportunities.

Is the program going to be family-friendly?

Absolutely! While hunger is a very serious issue in our state, we want to make sure the children who are participating get the opportunity to learn more about the issue, all while having some fun. Stay tuned after the main program for the 30 minute "Kids Table" program!

Donation Questions

Where do the funds from the Walk go?

Since it's inception in 2008, the Walk to End Hunger has raised over $3 million to help support hunger relief organizations working to eliminate hunger in the Twin Cities metro area! 100% of the net proceeds are distributed to our partner organizations. You can see a full list of these organizations here.

Do I have to raise $100 to be able to register?

No, we suggest a goal of $100 per person to increase your impact on helping the 1 in 8 Minnesotans who struggle to put food on their tables.

Are donations on the website secure?

Yes, all donation and registration information on our website is secure. When you get to a screen that asks for private information (contact and payment information), you will see that it shifts to a https://secure site.
