Volunteer

HOW CAN I MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

It doesn’t take a lot to make a difference! If only a portion of people volunteered, the impact would be amazing. For instance... In a community of 100,000 people, if only 10,000 people volunteered for 1 hour per year, that would be 10,000 volunteer hours per year. If that increased to once per quarter, that would be 40,000 volunteer hours per year. And what if they volunteered 1 hour per month? What change would happen in a community with 120,000 volunteer hours?!

HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER?

Be #HearthCore! Our members are some of the most incredible people in their communities. We are artists, teachers, innovators, writers, musicians and more. The ways we contribute are many. But how does that benefit WWRL?

Our purpose is to co-create a new paradigm for positive change in our communities. The more we can encourage people to engage positively in their personal communities, the more likely it is that our purpose will be realized. So what does that look like?

It doesn’t take a lot of time or effort to volunteer. What is your passion? What do you want to learn more about? What change do you envision? These are all questions to give you a starting point to figure out where/how to volunteer.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Beautify your street by doing 15 minutes of trash pick-up
  • Read to a child
  • Volunteer to walk dogs, sit with cats, etc. at your local humane shelter
  • Take out the trash barrels for your neighbors
  • Babysit (for free) for someone so they can have a few hours to themselves
  • Do laundry for a busy family
  • Help someone harvest their garden
  • Become a volunteer docent at a local museum
  • Volunteer to help with homework at a local library
  • Start a sock, hat, and/or drive for a local shelter
  • Start a healing group/spiritual discussion group
  • Gift Reiki or another healing modality to someone in need
  • Spend time giving your undivided attention to a child or elder
  • Give free hugs at a neighborhood event
  • Introduce yourself to your neighbors
  • Find local volunteer opportunies here

Where do you see a need in your community? What are the ways that you already make a difference in your day to day life?

You can also volunteer with Woman’s Way Red Lodge! Some ways to do so include:

  • Create an event online or locally to offer your expertise and gift all or a portion of the cost to WWRL
  • Start a WWRL Hoop That Connects
  • Step up to support the Essential Hoop as a side-by or facilitator (our virtual hoop)
  • Donate time and assist our Communications Director with communications and marketing
  • Commit time to assisting our WWRL board with administration duties
  • Be a Facebook Ambassador for WWRL (requires board approval)
  • Volunteer to lead an already established Hoop
  • Support your Hoop leader(s) by committing to show up early or stay late to help set up and clean up
  • Gift our community with your professional graphic design skills
  • Donate some of your own photography/drawings/poems/writings to the Hearth Letter
  • Step up to be a WWRL Mentor for those seeking mentorship
  • Step up to be a Board Member Side-by (offer to assist with board duties and be a sacred witness when a compassionate ear is needed)

We would love to see what you're doing! While you’re volunteering, make a heart with someone. To show us your love take a selfie and send it to Heather, Grace and Katy at volunteer@wwrl.org or share to our Joy Filled Warriors Facebook group here.

If you don't feel called to volunteer right now, you can still register and raise money for WWRL on a personal fundraising page! Do a silly challenge such as; shaving a beard, getting a pie in the face; dying your hair purple; jumping in really cold water, etc! We would also love to see some pages with personal stories of how you came to Red Lodge and the impact it has had on your life. There are no rules here! Have fun and please reach out to us with any questions at info@wwrl.org.
