Our Programs
Big Brothers Big Sisters of SLO County (BBBS SLO) offers three key programs:
- Community-based (matching adult mentors with youth in the community)
- Site-based (pairing high school and college mentors with elementary and middle school youth)
- Juvenile Hall (connects mentors with youth in a group setting within the juvenile justice setting).
The Outcomes
Our evidence-based programs deliver providen outcomes: greater confidence, better relationships, reduced risky behaviours, and improved educational success. Over the past two years, BBBS SLO has positively impacted local youth, with 97% of our participants maintaining or improving academic performance, 45% improving school attendance, 93% maintaining or enhancing family connectedness, and 77% improving or maintaining mental health without worsening anxiety or depression.
