A Year in Kids 4 Harmony!
Highlights From the Evening
Our performing students, staff, alumni, and guest artist Owen Young delivered unforgettable performances at the event at Tanglewood on June 25, 2024.
Throughout the evening, we were moved by heartfelt remarks from students. Seniors Ethan and Tyler eloquently spoke of the profound impact that Kids 4 Harmony has made in their lives:
"What I have gained from Kids 4 Harmony as a whole is invaluable and I truly believe this is one of the greatest programs for young people in the country." - Ethan, heading to University of Missouri Kansas City as a Viola Performance Major.
"Without this program I wouldn't have learned leadership, independence, and the skills required to play a stringed instrument . . . I wouldn't be going to college or have the thought of majoring in anything music related." - Tyler, heading to Westfield State University, majoring in Music Therapy.
Davis, a junior, shared with the audience the touching and personal story behind his composition Komorebi Dansu, played by the Elayne P. Bernstein Ensemble. Every performer showcased exceptional talent that truly inspired us all!
We were honored to have Owen Young, cellist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, on stage with our students this year playing a challenging and diverse piece by François Couperin. He also joined the finale Dancing Strings I by Che-Yi Lee, a very demanding and energetic piece that showcased the talents of our Chamber Players, alumni, and teaching artists. We are immensely appreciative for Owen's participation and partnership!
There was also the pleasure of honoring Carolyn and Eli Newberger and celebrating their passion for the program since the inception of Kids 4 Harmony over twelve years ago.
Your participation and generosity helps us sustain this youth development program of 18 Degrees into the future. Please consider making your first-time or additional donation today!
