Presented by Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance

Chloride Monitoring Volunteer

Registration has ended

About This Event

Thank you for your interest in joining Fox-Wolf, partners, and other volunteers this winter to monitor for chlorides (salt) in streams throughout the Fox-Wolf River Basin!

Road salt (sodium chloride) is everywhere during winter months. It keeps us safe on roads and sidewalks, but it can also pose a threat to fish, wildlife, habitats, and more. The Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance monitors for chlorides to understand the impacts of road salt on our freshwater resources and to inform strategies for reducing salt pollution.

The monitoring program uses volunteer-collected data to track chloride levels, educate residents, promote smarter winter maintenance, and protect the health of local rivers, lakes, and groundwater.
