About This Event
Show your support for 10 community-based organizations whose leaders are making an outsized impact in their South and West Side communities by joining us on April 10th at Malcolm X College.
Doors open at 5 pm for an hour of light fare, wine/beer, soft beverages and networking.
At 6 pm, 10 'Pitchers' (leaders of community-based nonprofit organizations) will deliver compelling, 3-minute pitches that they developed and refined with their 'Coaches' (SVP Partners and Friends of SVP Partners) over SVP Chicago's 2-month long, "Fast Pitch" communication training and mentoring program.
This high-energy, rapid-fire showcase introduces in-person and virtual audience members to leaders of organizations that are deeply connected to the issues they're tackling and allows audience members to make immediate, online donations to as many organizations as they'd like during this non-competitive fundraiser and friend-raiser!
Featured organizations are:
- The Alliance 98 – David Rojas, Jr., Founder
- Boxing Out Negativity – Coach Derek Brown, Founder & Director of Programs
- Common Ground Foundation – Karl Kemp, Executive Director
- Free Lunch Academy – Calvin King, Executive Director

About Fast Pitch:
Each year SVP Chicago invites 10 community-based nonprofit (NFP) leaders – who were recommended to us by our existing community partners for the outsized impact they're making in their South and West Side communities – to embark on a communications training and mentoring program that spans two months. Each NFP leader – a “Pitcher” – is paired with two “Coaches” (SVP Partners and Friends of SVP), to begin a journey of building confidence, community and connections.
About SVP:
SVP Chicago empowers philanthropists and community-based nonprofits to create greater impact together. We intentionally focus on smaller, community-based nonprofits who are making outsized impact in their neighborhoods but are all too often overlooked in traditional philanthropy. While these nonprofits are led by individuals with strong connections to the issues they’re tackling, they typically face bigger obstacles to accessing available resources and funding.
SVP Chicago invests the coaching and skills-based support, money and connections of our philanthropists to help the community-based nonprofits we serve create greater impact in their South and West Side neighborhoods.
And by empowering philanthropists and community-based nonprofits to create greater impact together, SVP Chicago is making equity in philanthropy a reality in Chicago’s South and West Sides.
Our corporate partners
By sponsoring Fast Pitch, our corporate partners help us bridge the gap between obstacles and opportunities for the community-based nonprofits we serve.
