About This Event

Good in the Hood Scholarship Program – 2026

APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM

Good in the Hood is excited to offer $2,500 academic scholarships for 2026 to eligible students who demonstrate a commitment to education, community service, and resilience in overcoming personal challenges.

The number of scholarships awarded each year is dependent on available funding.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, applicants must:

Be a high school graduate or a current undergraduate college student
(Graduate students and prior Good in the Hood scholarship recipients are not eligible.)

Submit a completed application by April 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM

Upload one (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, employer, mentor, or community leader who is not related to the applicant

Selection Preferences

Preference will be given to students who meet one or more of the following criteria; however, all eligible students are encouraged to apply:

First-generation college students
Low-income students (family income under $60,000 per year)
Students with experience in the foster care system
Non-traditional students
Demonstrated outstanding community service

Application Guidelines

Answer all essay questions using approximately 500 words per question
Use specific examples wherever possible

Volunteering Requirement

Good in the Hood is deeply committed to community engagement and leadership development. As part of the scholarship experience, all recipients are required to volunteer a minimum of four (4) hours at the Good in the Hood Multicultural Music, Arts & Food Festival in June 2026.

By volunteering, scholarship recipients will:

Give back to the community supporting their academic journey
Gain valuable leadership and networking experience
Become a visible part of the Good in the Hood family and its mission of Unity in the Community

Completion of the volunteer requirement is required before scholarship funds are disbursed.

Scholarship Disbursement

Scholarship funds will be issued directly to the recipient’s school, not to the student

Recipients are responsible for working with their college or university to determine how the scholarship will be applied to tuition and fees

Any excess funds will be handled or distributed in accordance with the school’s policies
