About This Event

Good in the Hood is excited to offer $2,500 academic scholarships to eligible students who demonstrate a commitment to education, community service, and overcoming personal challenges.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you must meet the following requirements:
✅ Be a high school graduate or current undergraduate college student (Graduate students and past recipients are not eligible). 
✅ Submit a completed application by April 20, 2025
✅ Upload one (1) letter of recommendation from someone not related to you

Preference will be given to students who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • First-generation college students
  • Low-income students (family income under $60,000/year)
  • Students with experience in the foster care system
  • Non-traditional students
  • Demonstrated outstanding community service

Application Guidelines: 

  • Please answer all essay questions with approximately 500 words and use specific examples wherever possible.

 

Volunteering Requirements
Good in the Hood is deeply committed to fostering community engagement and building
future leaders. As part of our commitment, all scholarship recipients are required to
volunteer a minimum of **four (4) hours** at the Good in the Hood Multicultural Music,
Arts & Food Festival in June to receive their scholarship check.
By volunteering, scholarship recipients will:
✅ Give back to the community that supports their academic journey
✅ Gain valuable leadership and networking experience
✅ Become a visible part of the Good in the Hood family and its mission of "Unity in the
Community"
This experience is a unique opportunity to connect with community members, sponsors,
and local leaders, while also developing skills in leadership, teamwork, and service.
Scholarship checks will be presented to recipients after their completion of the required
volunteer service.
