Citizen Science Program Kickoff Hike!

Please join Catawba Lands Conservancy to kickoff the Edward Jenner Wood V Citizen Science Program! On Saturday May 10, 2025, we are hosting an interactive 4-mile guided bird hike at Buffalo Creek Preserve Trail. Participants will have the opportunity to take plant and wildlife observations and upload them to our Buffalo Creek Preserve iNaturalist project. Kids can upload their observations to ecoExplore to start earning prizes (plus get bonus points for taking observations at an ecoExplore hotspot). This hike is suitable for all experience levels, but the natural-surface trail may be challenging for strollers and other wheeled equipment.

• Course: Approx. 4-mile trail, natural surface

• Audience: All ages welcome.
• Facilities: Porta-potty available on site.

• A mobile device for uploading observations to iNaturalist
• Plenty of water
• Closed toe hiking shoes
• Hat and sun protection
• Insect repellent
• Personal medical supplies (EpiPen, inhaler, etc.)
