Lauren McGrath | Director of Watershed Protection Program at the Trust since 2017, Lauren is responsible for creating and building the Watershed Department into what it is today! With the help of her Co-ops and Conservation Associates, she oversees important research in the 190+ miles of streams in our focus area, including the headwaters of Ridley, Crum, and Darby Creeks, to understand how to protect freshwater resources and ensure clean, safe water for all. She has a Bachelor of Science from Ursinus College where she focused her independent research project on the impact fracking has on macroinvertebrate populations, and a Masters of Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania where she studied the aquatic macroinvertebrates with Stroud Water Research Center. Out of the water, Lauren enjoys cycling and hiking, as well as quilting, knitting, and crocheting.
Mike Cranney | Director of Stewardship | Upon joining us in 2020, Mike quickly got to work managing the Trust’s many acres of public land. Thanks to his Masters in Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and a background in gardening at Morris Arboretum, he has developed a passion for native plants and ecological restoration. He has passed on the value of good stewardship while working with our many volunteers, and aims to do the same throughout the community as he manages the Trust’s Conservation Easements held on private properties. When he’s not at the preserves, you can find Mike at the movies or watching Philly sports.
Ana Walsh | Watershed Conservation Research and Data Specialist | While pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Conservation Biology at Middlebury College, Anna joined our Watershed Protection Team as an intern in 2018. During the summers of 2019 and 2020 she conducted research on nitrogen fixation in mosses and studied stream salamander ecology at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest before returning to our team in 2021. As a Watershed Conservation Research and Data Specialist, Anna assists with monthly water chemistry sampling, maintains the tree planting at Ashbridge Preserve, and analyzes water quality data from sampling and from our EnviroDIY sensors. Out of the stream, Anna enjoys going on walks with friends, family and dogs, and tending to her veggie garden.
