About This Event
When Blanche Lazzell sailed for Paris in July 1912, she entered an artistic environment far removed from her home in Morgantown. Settling into the exhilarating environment of Montparnasse, she quickly enrolled in several art academies, attended lectures at the Louvre, and sought out all the art galleries and exhibitions that would introduce her to the new avant-garde style in art. This revolution in style strongly influenced her and was further solidified when she returned to Paris in 1923-24 for additional study. As Lazzell stated when she began her studies at the Academie Moderne in January 1913, “I feel that I am at last in my element.” $5 for WVBG Members, $15 General Admission.
