Born and raised on the southside of Johannesburg on the southern tip of Africa, the Rev. Kelvin Sauls is a progressive and liberative faith-rooted community organizer in the abolitionist Pan-African and emancipatory Black Liberation traditions. With a national and international reach, his organizing emanates from the intersection of South Los Angeles and South Africa.

He provided pastoral and executive leadership in the UMC from 1996-2018.

 

As the former Senior Pastor of Holman UMC in Los Angeles and former City Commissioner on LAHSA, he is the Co-Founder of the Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI). Grounded in a spirituality of mutuality, equitable belonging, and ubuntu, Rev. Sauls is currently deployed as one of the statewide Community Organizers with LIVE FREE CA.
