Film School with Tina Buckingham, featuring Heaven's Gate - April 29, 6pm

About This Event

Film School with Tina Buckingham, featuring a screening of Heaven's Gate (1979)

April 29, 6pm

3 hrs 39 mins with intermission

Tinworks at Rialto

$12

This second Film School event features an introduction by Tina Buckingham, a Bozeman-based casting Director who has cast such films as The Patriot and The Old Way and TV shows including1923.

One of her first movie experiences was on the set of Heaven’s Gate, a sweeping Western directed by Michael Cimino that chronicles the brutal 1892 Johnson County War in Wyoming, when wealthy cattle barons hired mercenaries to kill European settlers. It is known for its ambitious scale, stunning cinematography, and excellent cast featuring Kris Kristofferson, Isabelle Huppert, Christopher Walken, Jeff Bridges, and John Hurt.

Film School is a recurring film screening and lecture series pairing landmark works of cinema with short, accessible presentations from local filmmakers and technicians. Each event highlights a specific technical or creative innovation within the film—illuminating the craft behind the art—and connects it to the work being done by regional professionals today.

Event Schedule

5:30pm - Doors open. Food and drinks may be purchased and brought from gute Laune upstairs to the theater downstairs to enjoy during the film.

5:55pm - If you're on the waitlist, come to the Rialto by 5:55pm — unclaimed tickets will be sold at the door.

6:00pm - Short presentation by Tina Buckingham prior to film screening.

10pm - Event concludes.

Parking downtown can be tricky, so we recommend arriving with plenty of time and using the parking garage located on Tracy Avenue or coming via public transportation.

Have a question, or would you like to request sponsored (free) tickets for yourself or your students, contact angela.yonke@tinworksart.org. Committed attendance requests only please.
