Pierce’s Disease continues to challenge vineyards across California, but growers and researchers are working together to develop practical strategies for resilience.
Join us in the field at Sea Smoke Vineyards to hear from Kris Lowe, who brings experience from her work with the CDFA Pierce’s Disease and Glassy-Winged Sharpshooter Board and as a viticulture consultant. Kris will highlight key risk factors growers should consider and share insights from recent and ongoing research focused on closing knowledge gaps and advancing sustainable control options.
Adam Tolmach (Ojai Vineyard) will share his firsthand experience managing Pierce’s Disease, including losing a vineyard in 1995 and replanting with UC Davis Pierce’s Disease-resistant vines in 2017.
We’ll wrap up with a grower panel, where participants will discuss real-world challenges and tactics that have shown promise in the vineyard.
