About This Program
An Introductory Animation Workshop with Elanna Allen and Jimena Faerber for students ages 6+ (limited to 12 students)
$250 per student *early bird pricing*
WHEN
Wednesday, July 22nd - Friday, July 24th (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, PLUS screening at 10am on Saturday, July 25th)
WHAT
Star in your own animated movie through this animation workshop that uses YOU as the star! In this workshop, students will make movies using an animation technique called pixelation, which is stop motion that uses people as puppets. Students will storyboard, create sets and props, and finally, film their movies. The workshop will conclude with a special screening of the students’ films. No previous animation skills or experience required!
Parents and friends are welcome to join on Saturday, July 25th at 10am for a premiere screening of the students’ films at NFAC.
This workshop is limited to 12 students. Participants should bring their own snacks & drinks.

INSTRUCTOR BIOS
Elanna Allen
Elanna Allen is an animation art director and illustrator who has designed shows for Nickelodeon, Disney, Netflix, PBS and The Jim Henson Company. She has written and illustrated several picture books for Simon and Schuster and Penguin Random House. She studied fine art at Brown University, illustration at RISD, and animation at the National Film Academy in Prague. Bump into her on the street of NYC and Orient NY, where she lives with her husband and two sons (three sons, if you include her cat, Buster.)
Jimena Faerber
Jimena Faerber is a Swiss-Uruguayan child development specialist. She studied psychology in Geneva, Switzerland, and has devoted her career to working with children ever since. Through various training, she has specialized in autism, while also working with a wide range of developmental needs, from speech and language delays to broader learning differences.
For the past 12 years, Jimena has been working at La Petite École, a French preschool in Manhattan known for its strong focus on art. She speaks five languages, and outside the classroom you’ll usually find her making pottery—or trying to make everyone laugh.
