- Art Buffet: Anything goes when the art supply cabinet is open! Perhaps paint, paper, fabric, and glue become treasure boxes, puppets, mysterious maps, or wonky weavings. Found objects, clay, beads and yarn can create butterflies, buildings, dragons, journals and more!

Painting Lab, ages 7-12

- Painting Lab: Focus is on the young artists who need the time and space to experiment with the wonders of paint. Students will work with a variety of media including watercolor, acrylic paint, and even house paint! Students will also use a variety of surfaces including paper, wood and canvas. Simple compositions will lead to experimentation with various approaches to painting and students will have the chance to experiment with non-traditional techniques. What happens when salt comes into contact with watercolor? How can you use crayons and glue to create texture in an image? Your child will find the answers to these questions and more as people, places, and things will come to life with quality materials and a little imagination!

- An Artist a Day - Get inspired by the greats! Each day, we will focus on a different artist from history (and today!) and create projects inspired by their ideas, materials, and methods. We’ll explore all sorts of artmaking: sculpture, painting, wearables, and more. A local artist will join us for one day to share their art firsthand!

Mini Cardboard Laboratory, ages 7-12

- Mini Cardboard Laboratory - An engineering and possibility camp! A cardboard box, some paints and markers, duct tape, glue, a super ball, a balloon and a needle. What to do with all this stuff? Campers will use simple machines, imagination and experimentation to create marble runs, fairy houses, masks and more. Just four days of this camp this year because of the Juneteenth holiday, so it will be filled with concentrated fun. Creativity abounds!

- Comic Book Art Camp, ages 7-10 - Gives younger comic artists the basics of comic book structure, with the chance to create their own comics, their own characters and maybe some “merch” to go along with it. Campers will leave the class having developed original characters and their own universes and the ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound, oh wait, wait, Superman already did that. But what can your comic artist do??? As always, “Excelsior!”

- Waterfront Park LVA Nature Camp - Campers aged 7 to 12 can come experience an Art Camp surrounded by green space, fresh air, a splash park and of course more playgrounds, and more ART! LVA Artist Instructors will guide campers through Waterfront Park’s art, wildlife and history, while campers will create paintings, drawings, sculptures and more, inspired by their own observations and nature. A ride on the steamboat “Mary Miller” (who was the first female steamboat captain) is included in the camp, also a visit to Abraham Lincoln by Ed Hamilton, and to the Flock of Finns by Marvin Finn, (both local artists), and a day at the new Waterfront Park PlayPort.

- Stop Motion Youngsters, ages 7-10 - An imaginative course that will introduce students to the exciting world of stop motion animation through a collaborative adventure in storytelling. Students will begin by creating storyboards, and will then learn to build models and sets to realize their vision. The stop motion process incorporates drawing, writing, storyboard creation, character development, design, construction, performance, digital photography, sound manipulation, overlays and editing! The art room and computer lab are open for these camps. Each student will complete the camp with their own short film.

- Digital Photography - Get ready for summer fun while taking photos of people, places, and things, in this photography class for 7-12 year olds! Learn how to basics with your camera or a class camera, like filling the frame and finding the right light. Explore printing with the sun with the historical photo process of Cyanotypes. A USB flash drive is recommended to save student photos. LVA supplies small SLR Cameras for use during camp.

- Creature Feature - The class for children who like to experiment with multiple media, such as paint, plaster, gauze and air-drying clay! Students will incorporate both 2D and 3D techniques, utilizing a variety of provided materials along with found objects to create one-of-a-kind works of art. Students will draw, paint and sculpt to create a whimsical animal bust to hang on their wall! This camp also takes group walking tours to the nearby Clifton Gardens for inspiration to produce nature inspired works of art — a perfect fit for students wishing to learn new skills or those simply wanting to try new techniques.
