I started VVF with my Mom because I learned firsthand how difficult and isolating it can be to navigate the world with a disability. I spent 10 years in a wheelchair and thanks to the love and support of my family I was not like the many who fall through the cracks. The most heartbreaking thing to learn is how many do not have the help and support and how just having a simple tool such as a wheelchair or shower chair is considered by many insurance companies a “luxury item”. After regaining my mobility we donated so much of my equipment and realized just how great the need was and continues to be.

I never truly understood why I survived the unthinkable until I could see the purpose (VVF) my pain could turn into. I serve for that reason among many.
