Imagine being far from home, supporting the love of your life as they fight their final battle, without the comfort of family and friends nearby.
This is the reality for Julie, whose husband John, a proud veteran, was admitted to the VA hospital over two months ago. Recently, he was placed in hospice, and doctors estimate he may have only a few months left. Julie has been by his side every step of the way, staying with us at the Hospital Hospitality House of Saginaw to remain close to him, while their home in Ohio feels farther and farther away.
Every now and then, Julie makes the exhausting drive home for just one day - to pick up the mail, pay the bills, and take care of what she can - before returning to Michigan to stay near John. While she’d love nothing more than to bring him closer to home, there is no option available to make that possible. For as long as John needs hospice care, Julie may be here with us, away from her community and the support she needs during this difficult time.
The Hospital Hospitality House of Saginaw exists to ease burdens exactly like these, providing families like Julie and John’s a safe, compassionate place to stay near their loved ones during hospitalization. For families facing such emotional and financial strain, we’re here as a source of stability and support, so they never have to walk through hardship alone.
With your help, we can ensure that Julie - and other families like hers - can stay close to their loved ones without the added worries of finding or affording a place to stay. Your donation will support the day-to-day essentials, safe lodging, and a community of kindness that our guests rely on during their darkest times.
Please give today to help us continue being a home-away-from-home for families in need. Together, we can make sure that no one has to face these difficult journeys alone.
Thank you for being a light for families like Julie’s. Every donation, no matter the size, goes a long way in helping those who need it most.
Warmly,
Jamie L. King
