Join IMRC with its guest speakers Professor Muqtedar Khan:
Dr. Muqtedar Khan is Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Delaware. He researches and teaches Islam, Governance and International Relations. He founded the Islamic Studies Program at the University.He is the author of Islam and Good Governance: A Political Philosophy of Ihsan (Palgrave, 2019). Islam and Good Governance has been recognized as an all time best books on political philosophy.
Entertainment by Qawwali artist Bilal Chishty:
Bilal Chishty (also known as Dhruv Sangari), is a Sufi vocalist, lyricist, composer and scholar based in New Delhi. He leads a number of well known bands including ‘Rooh Sufi Ensemble’, ‘Humble Mystic’ and the Washington DC based ‘National Sufi Ensemble’.
Bilal learned classical music at a young age and soon developed an interest in sufi music and began learning qawwali under Ustad Meraj Ahmed Nizami, of the Delhi gharana. Bilal has a Masters degree in Hindustani classical music and has been performing professionally since 2001. Over the last two decades he has taught at a number of schools and universities both in India and overseas. Currently, in addition to his full time recording and performing career, he holds the position of Co-Founder and Executive Director at the Naadvistaar Foundation for Music.
Known as the ‘Prince of Qawwali’, Bilal has performed on Coke Studio MTV and at many prestigious US institutions like the Kennedy Center, Stanford University and the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art.
