Registration has ended

About This Event

Be Part of Theater History at the North Fork Arts Center!

Join us for an extraordinary conclusion to the John Patrick Shanley Festival, sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies & Gerry Byrne, as the celebrated playwright himself directs a staged reading of a new play, co-produced by Brave New Works, Five Steps To Transcendence. This intimate evening offers a rare glimpse into the creative process of one of America's most distinguished dramatists.

Playwright John Patrick Shanley tells five short stories about men and women that culminate in a moment of epiphany. By turns tragic, funny, and deeply romantic, the evening takes us through alleyways, balconies, and coffee shops, before finally arriving at a rather unusual massage experience. 90 minute running time.

Experience the thrill of new theater coming to life as accomplished actors bring Shanley's words from page to stage. This special presentation invites you into the vulnerable and exciting space where a play first meets its audience, creating a unique bond between playwright, performers, and spectators.

Following the reading, immerse yourself in an illuminating talkback with Shanley and the cast. Discover the intricate journey of theatrical creation as they discuss the evolution of the play, their artistic choices, and the collaborative process that shapes a work from its earliest drafts toward full production.

Suggested donation: $50
