About This Event

Camp CHAT (Communicating with the Help of Assistive Technology)

We are excited to welcome families back for the second annual Camp CHAT, November 6–8, at Camp ASCCA in Jackson's Gap, Alabama!

Camp CHAT is a weekend experience designed for teens ages 13–19 who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and the caregivers who support them. Each camper may attend with up to two caregivers, creating opportunities for the entire family to learn, connect, and grow together.

At Camp CHAT, we believe that communication is about more than using a device—it's about building relationships, developing confidence, expressing your unique voice, and finding a community where everyone belongs. Throughout the weekend, teens will participate in fun, interactive activities designed to strengthen communication skills, foster independence, encourage leadership, and build meaningful friendships with peers who also use AAC.

Caregivers will participate in their own engaging sessions focused on practical AAC strategies, family support, and connecting with others who understand the joys and challenges of raising a teen who communicates differently. These shared experiences create lasting relationships and a supportive network that extends well beyond camp weekend.

Whether this is your first Camp CHAT or you're returning for another year, you'll find a welcoming community that celebrates every voice, empowers teens to connect with one another, and equips families with the tools, encouragement, and friendships to continue growing long after camp ends.

We believe every teen who uses AAC should have the opportunity to experience Camp CHAT. Through the generosity of our partners, scholarship assistance is available to help make participation possible.

Registration & Scholarship Information

Registration for Camp CHAT is $240.00 and includes participation for one camper and one caregiver for the full weekend. An additional caregiver may be added during registration for $75.00.

Thanks to the generous support of Libby's Friends, a limited number of 50% scholarships are available for qualifying families. Families who wish to apply for scholarship assistance should complete their Camp CHAT registration first by selecting the 50% scholarship option on the registration form.
