About This Event

Pilgrims of Ibillin welcomes you to join us at a Fundraising luncheon hosted by Grosse Point Memorial Church at the War Memorial. The luncheon will feature a panel discussion with Father Chacour, Rev Dr Bruce Rigdon, Rev. Susan Mozena, and others, who together founded Pilgrims of Ibillin in 1995, and others from the formative years.

War Memorial on Monday, October 14 at 10:30 AM

A three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Abuna Chacour has dedicated his life to fostering peace and reconciliation in the Holy Land. Born in 1939 to a Palestinian Christian family in the village of Biram in Upper Galilee, he has served as the Archbishop of the Melkite Catholic Church for Akko, Haifa, Nazareth, and all Galilee from 2006-2014.

Father Chacour realized early on that his work in Ibillin would require more than routine priestly duties. His vision was, and is, that through education, children, youth, and young adults of different faith traditions will learn to live and work together in peace. That vision is a reality in the schools of the Mar Elias Educational Institutions (MEEI). As Father Chacour’s dreams became reality, schools were established in Ibillin over 30 years. The cluster of schools now serve 2,750 students from preschool through high school.

We welcome you to join a luncheon gathering to hear from Father Chacour, Rev. Dr. Rigdon, Rev. Susan Mozena and others. They will share about the journey to "Build Peace on Desktops." The story is a testament to the power of faith, education, and dialogue in overcoming conflict and building a more just and harmonious world.

Suggested donation covers the cost of lunch $50, additional contributions welcomed. All proceeds benefit the scholarship fund at Mar Elias Educational institution

Please register no later than Tuesday, October 1, Midnight so that we can prepare for your meal appropriately.
