The Retreat established Adopt-a-Family over 20 years ago when its employees in advocacy recognized a need in their clients. They collected and distributed one gift each for their clients’ children, serving about 20 families in total. Now, this holiday giving program provides for 200 families, more than 450 individuals.

HOW TO ADOPT A FAMILY
We are now gathering wish lists from the families we serve. If you'd like to adopt a family, please contact The Retreat's Development department at Elise@theretreatinc.org or Patricia@theretreatinc.org, or call 
631-329-4398 ext. 111 or 123.

Once you've signed up as an adopter, we'll email you your family's wish list as soon as it's ready.

Drop off unwrapped gifts by December 4, 2026

Each year, this beloved community initiative collects holiday gifts, essentials and gift cards for families in need. Gift cards let survivors choose presents for their families; it is often the first time they have had the financial independence to make
those decisions.
