Franklin: The Charismatic Performer

Franklin is a heritage turkey who came from a small farming operation, originally intended to become someone’s Thanksgiving meal. Thankfully, in 2019, he was rescued by a compassionate family who, instead of eating a turkey for Thanksgiving, chose to save one. A gentle tom, Franklin loves to strut around and show off his handsome plumage. If you speak to him in an admiring tone, Franklin will quickly take a liking to you!

Tim: The Loyal Friend

We first found Tim being given away on Craigslist. To spare him from the fate of ending up on someone’s dinner table, we brought him to live at Charlie’s Acres. Although he initially had a hard time finding another animal who would accept his big personality, he found an unexpected friendship in Seymour the rooster, who gave Tim a chance and helped bring out his softer side. The two are now members of a group of male birds affectionately called "The Bad Boys' Club." We are thrilled that Tim is accepted for who he is and found where he fits in best.

Sapphire and her best friend, Mei Li, were rescued from a large industrial farm, where they endured harsh conditions. Near the brink of slaughter, they were saved in 2018 when the farm released 100 turkeys to actor and animal rights activist James Cromwell as an act of a "Thanksgiving mercy." Sapphire is a friendly, sassy queen who loves to jump up on your shoulders when you're crouching down to claim you as her throne. She has a keen eye for shiny jewelry, and eagerly investigates rings and bracelets worn by her human visitors.

Mei Li and her best friend, Sapphire, were rescued from a large industrial farm, where they endured harsh conditions. Near the brink of slaughter, they were saved in 2018 when the farm released 100 turkeys to actor and animal rights activist James Cromwell as an act of a "Thanksgiving mercy." While Mei Li is snuggly with her favorite humans, she's confident in asserting her boundaries, especially when you make a fashion choice she doesn't approve of; make sure you avoid wearing tan pants or white sneakers in her presence!

Hombre: The Protector (SOLD OUT!)
Hombre: The Protector (SOLD OUT!)

Hombre started out his life in Oaxaca, Mexico, where he was intended to be the feast at a wedding. However, a member of the wedding party felt sympathy for Hombre and convinced the bride and groom to spare his life. He has become the self-appointed protector of our ‘Misfit Barn’ and has befriended and looked after many new arrivals and special-needs animals over the years. Hombre is understandably wary of unfamiliar humans after his past experiences, but we admire him for his kind and gentle nature towards all others and selflessly focusing on what matters most to him: keeping his family safe.
