    Hitchcock Center Fall Birding Class

       August – November, 2026

Birding in the fall is just as wonderful as birding in the spring, see hawks migrating, fall warblers, waterfowl migration and more.  Join lifelong birder Scott Surner as well as other local birders to get out and enjoy nature, birds and the company of others who also love birds.  

Sliding scale for the course | $375, $415, or $455 

Field Trips:

Aug- 15^th- 7:00 AM-12:00. Longmeadow. Fannie Stebbins and Sandbar. We’ll be looking for Herons, Egrets, and Shorebirds. Be prepared to wade out into the Ct.River. Bring old footwear, something you don’t mind getting wet.

Sept- 5^th- 7:00 AM- 12:00. Local- Fall Warblers.

Sept 12^th- 6:30 AM-12:00. Local-Searching for the elusive Connecticut Warbler.

Sept 19^th- 7:00AM-12:00. Local- More Warblers, Vireos, migrating Hawks, and perhaps some early sparrows.

Sept 26^th- 7:00 AM-12:00. Local. Warblers, but more sparrows are starting to show up.

Oct 3^rd- 5:45 AM-4:00. Lighthouse Point, and perhaps a few other areas along the Connecticut shore. All Day. Migrating Hawks, Shorebirds, Herons, and late warblers.

Oct 23^rd- 24^th & 25^th- Cape Cod Weekend. Depart Friday morning and return late Sunday afternoon. Anything is possible on the Cape this time of year. Shearwaters, Jaegers, Gannets, Shorebirds, Herons, Ducks, late warblers, and sparrows. More information to come.

Nov 14^th -7:00 AM-12:00. Local, Franklin County, Quabbin?

Zoom Classes-Wednesday’s 6 PM-8ish.

Sept 9^th-Fall Warblers.

Sept 23^rd- Shorebirds.

Oct 21^st- Shearwaters, Gannets & Jaegers.
