About Alternatives For Girls

Our mission is to help girls and young women experiencing homelessness and other risks avoid violence, early pregnancy, and exploitation; and help them to explore and access the support, resources, and opportunities necessary to be safe, to grow strong, and to make positive choices for their lives. We serve girls and young women experiencing homelessness and other risks through trauma informed care focusing on:

  • Housing Stability
  • Workforce Development
  • Youth Programs
  • Human Trafficking
  • Domestic Violence
  • Crisis Support
  • Early Childhood Education

What items does Alternatives For Girls accept?

At this time, we are accepting the following new items:

 

  • Warm Women's Clothing (Sizes S-2X): jeans, yoga pants, sweatpants, sweatshirts, tennis shoes, etc.

  • Kids' and Adult Boots (All Sizes)

  • Women's Bras, Socks, and Underwear (All Sizes)

  • Gift Cards ($20-$30) for Kroger, Meijer, Target, CVS, Walgreens, Gas Stations, Lyft, or Uber

  • Baby Clothing (All Sizes): sleep sacks, onesies, socks, pants, shirts, pajamas, bibs, baby blankets, etc.

  • Diapers (All Sizes)

  • Snacks, Juices, and Cases of Water

  • Hair Care Products for African-American Hair

  • Duffle Bags and Backpacks

  • Houseware Items: dishes, utensils, bedding, cleaning supplies, etc.
