About This Event
Bones and All is a summer camp for campers entering grades 1-3. Bones and All runs Monday, June 29th - Thursday, July 2nd from 9am-12pm each day.
Where would we be without our bones? Campers will explore bones from biology to art. Reconstruct a skeleton, build a candy spine, bend some bones, and along the way, learn a lot about osteology (the study of bones). In this camp, we will be challenged to read between and think outside of the lines!
Campers will receive a snack during the camp that accomodates dietary restrictions. Please do not send campers with their own food.
Grades 1 – 3 Expectations: Campers should be able to move independently over uneven ground on relatively flat terrain. A typical excursion might take us to Sitka National Historic Park, around the loop trail there, and back to the Science Center. Campers should feel comfortable with group skills such as listening, waiting their turn, and practicing kindness toward others. Science content is integrated into stories, explorations, games, and projects. Activity work time is restricted to ~30 minute blocks. Campers will receive a snack during the camp that accomodates dietary restrictions.
Photo Release: I hereby authorize and consent to the use of the participant's visual image by Sitka Sound Science Center for appropriate purposes, including but not limited to: still photography, videotape, electronic and print publications and websites. I give this consent with no claim for payment.
Activity Description:The Sitka Sound Science Center (“SSSC”) offers summer camp programs for youth that may involve educational activities on and off SSSC property. Activities may include walking field trips, travel in SSSC vehicles, and participation in hands-on science experiences.
Acknowledgment of Risks: I understand and acknowledge that participation in the summer camp program may involve:
- Walking to nearby locations in the community.
- Traveling in SSSC-owned or operated vehicles.
- Participation in outdoor activities, which may involve varying weather conditions and terrain.
While SSSC staff and volunteers take every reasonable precaution to ensure safety, I acknowledge that there are inherent risks associated with these activities, including but not limited to slips, falls, vehicle-related incidents, or other unforeseen events.
Release of Liability: In consideration for the participant being allowed to take part in the summer camp program, I hereby release and hold harmless SSSC, its officers, employees, and volunteers from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action that may arise from participation in these activities, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Transportation Consent: I consent to the participant being transported in SSSC-owned or operated vehicles to and from activity locations as part of the summer camp program.
