About This Event

Fowl Play is a summer camp for campers entering grades 1-3. Fowl Play runs Monday, June 1st - Thursday, June 4th from 9am-12pm each day.

This camp is the perfect blend of ornithology (the study of birds) and forensic science, which is used to help solve crimes. Campers will meet Sitka’s birds, decipher secret bird-call messages, and perform important lab work to whittle down our list of winged suspects. Will you be able to find the clues, analyze the data, and read between the lines to solve our bird-themed mystery?

Campers will receive a snack during the camp that accomodates dietary restrictions. Please do not send campers with their own food.

Grades 1 – 3 Expectations: Campers should be able to move independently over uneven ground on relatively flat terrain. A typical excursion might take us to Sitka National Historic Park, around the loop trail there, and back to the Science Center. Campers should feel comfortable with group skills such as listening, waiting their turn, and practicing kindness toward others. Science content is integrated into stories, explorations, games, and projects. Activity work time is restricted to ~30 minute blocks. Campers will receive a snack during the camp that accomodates dietary restrictions.
