Playful Patterns is a summer camp for campers aged 3-5. Playful Patterns runs Monday, July 20th - Thursday, July 23rd from 9am-12pm each day.
Patterns are all around us every day, and over the course of this camp we will identify, explore, and develop our own playful patterns together. Activities will build fine motor skills, connect kiddos with the natural world, and encourage creative play and problem-solving. This program will be outdoor based, and kiddos should come prepared with a personal bag, change of clothing, water bottle, layers, and rain gear to be comfortable outside for a half day. Each camp day will end with free time at the Crescent Harbor playground until pickup.
Campers will receive a snack during the camp that accomodates dietary restrictions. Please do not send campers with their own food.
Pre-K Expectations: Campers must be potty trained. A typical excursion will be to the Sitka National Historic Park, Sage Beach, and to the playground. We will practice forming teams, creative group play, waiting turns, and being kind to one another.
Photo Release: I hereby authorize and consent to the use of the participant's visual image by Sitka Sound Science Center for appropriate purposes, including but not limited to: still photography, videotape, electronic and print publications and websites. I give this consent with no claim for payment.
Participaiton Waiver:
Activity Description: The Sitka Sound Science Center (“SSSC”) offers afterschool club programs for youth that may involve educational activities on and off SSSC property. Activities may include walking field trips, travel in SSSC vehicles, and participation in hands-on science experiences.
Acknowledgement of Risks: I understand and acknowledge that participation in the afterschool club may involve:
- Walking to nearby locations in the community.
- Traveling in SSSC-owned or operated vehicles.
- Participation in outdoor activities, which may involve varying weather conditions and terrain.
While SSSC staff and volunteers take every reasonable precaution to ensure safety, I acknowledge that there are inherent risks associated with these activities, including but not limited to slips, falls, vehicle-related incidents, or other unforeseen events.
Release of Liability: In consideration for the participant being allowed to take part in the afterschool club, I hereby release and hold harmless SSSC, its officers, employees, and volunteers from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action that may arise from participation in these activities, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Transportation Consent: I consent to the participant being transported in SSSC-owned or operated vehicles to and from activity locations as part of the afterschool club program.
