About This Event

Join us at The Boathouse at River Row on Sunday, July 26th for Alchemizing Invasives, the second of a 5-part workshop series designed to transform the way we see and interact with invasive plants in Kentucky.

Participants will learn how to make a free-style basket utilizing the invasive plant, Winter Creeper. No previous experience needed.

Hosted by Woods & Waters Land Trust, this hands-on series invites community members to learn how to creatively repurpose invasive species while gaining a deeper understanding of why managing them is vital to the health of our local ecosystems. Each month, participants will work alongside local artists to “alchemize” invasive plants into beautiful, functional creations—ranging from handmade paper and natural pigments to baskets, wreaths, and more.

What to Expect

  • Hands-on instruction from local artists
  • Creative projects using invasive plant materials
  • Insight into invasive species and ecosystem health
  • A welcoming, community-centered learning environment

Light snacks and drinks will be provided at each workshop.

Workshop Schedule

  • June 21 – Plant Paper with Rachel Singel
  • July 26 – Basket Weaving with Alyssum Pohl
  • August 16 – Wreaths with Anna Campomanes
  • September 13 – Paint Pigments with Madison Hetzel
  • October 4 – Paintbrushes with Kat Smith
