Celebrating Huge Impact and 15 Years
This year's Allergy Action Awards will take place on Thursday, October 8th at 6:30 pm, at The Strong, the only collections-based museum in the world devoted solely to the history and exploration of play.
We are very excited to announce this year's honorees!
Ruth T. Cornell Award
Jill Mindlin and Stacey Saiontz hardly need an introduction. Their longtime advocacy has been instrumental in building allergy safety in New York State and Washington, DC. They are active at all levels of government. They have also been with us from the beginning.
John J. Condemi Award
Dr. Jessica Stern is a longtime presenter of our Epi Near You New York training program. She is also in clinical practice at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Allergy & Immunology Practice.
Nancy Sander Award
Our foundational story and that of the Dillon Mueller Memorial Fund, founded by his parents, Angel and George Mueller, are very similar. Jon's sister, Ruthie and their son Dillon were lost to an anaphylactic reaction to a bee sting. It is our hope that this honor will highlight the important work they are doing in Wisconsin and beyond.
Empire State Allergy Action Award
NYS Assemblymember Jen Lunsford and Senator Andrew Gounardes have been instrumental in helping to pass legislation regarding packaged food labeling and large venue epinephrine stocking. Their leadership has enhanced the safety of all New Yorkers managing life-threatening allergies.
--------
As always, Brenda Tremblay of WXXI in Rochester will be our MC.
Entertainment will be provided by Melissa Mueller-Douglas, LMSW, who will lead us in a fun Chocolate Mindfulness experience that transforms eating from a source of anxiety into a moment of confidence, connection, and celebration.
As you can see this will be a great evening celebrating great impact!
Guests at this family-friendly event will enjoy hearty appetizers, an awards ceremony, and special entertainment as well as the opportunity to explore Pixel Landing and the High Score Room at The Strong. Dress is comfortably celebratory.
This year's event is especially meaningful as Allergy Advocates New York celebrates 15 years of education, advocacy, and action. We hope you'll help us honor this milestone and celebrate the advocates, healthcare professionals, legislators, and community leaders whose dedication is helping make life safer for those living with food allergies. It's a chance to recognize meaningful achievements, reflect on the progress we've made together, and look ahead to the work still to come.
