June Pit Fire Workshop

Only 4 tickets left!

About This Event

Pit firing, as the name implies, will be done the old-fashioned way in a pit with a small bonfire. It is quite exciting to see these pieces come out, you never know how they will look but they are always interesting and unique. We expect the pots to have unique colors and effects and unique smoke designs.

Students can bring up to 7 bisqued pottery pieces. The pieces need to have been made with a Cone 5 or 6 clay. Pieces should be no larger than 9”x9”. Pottery made out of white clay can be very dramatic but any color clay produces great results. Pottery with any type of finish, do well and all are quite interesting. Pots that have been burnished or covered with terra sigillata can produce interesting results (contact the instructor for more information on how to prepare your pots in this manner).

Firing Schedule
Monday, June 15, 6:00pm - 9:00pm - firing the pieces
Tuesday, June 16, 6:00pm - 6:30pm - picking up pieces
