The STEM Alliance AMC 8 Math Club on Tuesdays and Fridays @ Hommocks Middle School with a STEM Alliance educator as your math coach.

You must be a currently enrolled MUFSD student to register for this club.

Please note: You must be younger than 14.5 years old on the date of the exam, between January 21st and 27th, 2027, in order to qualify.

This club prepares students for the annual AMC 8 challenge. Students will work individually and collaboratively. In order to build confidence and aptitude for the test, students should attend all sessions as a minimum requirement. This test is a “challenge by choice.” The math problems are extremely advanced, significantly above grade level and designed to challenge students beyond the basics of middle school math. Please have your child take this PRE-TEST to evaluate whether this is a challenge they wish to participate in.

Registration opens on Tuesday, August 25, 2026

The Friday club meets from 3:15pm to 4:30pm in Hommocks Room: N109 

Dates: Sept 18, 25, Oct 2, 9, 16, 23, Nov 6, 20, Dec 4, 11

Make-Up: (if needed due to class cancellation - not due to student absence): December 18, 2026

The Tuesday club meets from 5:00pm to 6:15pm in Hommocks Room: N109 

Dates: Sept 22, 29, Oct 6, 13, 20, 27, Nov 10, 17, 24, Dec 8

Make-Up: (if needed due to class cancellation - not due to student absence): December 15, 2026

Competition/test date: The AMC 8 test is given in the Hommocks Library on a morning between January 21st - 27th, 2027.

Fees: $400; Scholarships are available at $40. Please fill out the scholarship request form.
