FAQ
What Is a Rubber Duck Race?
Participants “adopt” numbered rubber ducks that race along the lazy river at Fairfax County’s Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole. The first ducks to cross the finish line are declared the winners!
How Do I Participate?
Choose the duck—or flock of ducks—you would like to adopt. Each duck has a unique number, which will be emailed to you after your adoption.
All ducks adopted by noon on Friday, August 28, will race on Saturday, August 29.
Join us at the Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole at 9:30 AM to cheer on the ducks! You do not need to be present for your duck to win. Winners will be announced following the race and awarded trophies.
Which Rubber Ducks Can I Sponsor?
Choose from several rubber duck options:
-
Adopt a duckling for $10
-
Adopt a big yellow duck for $100
-
Adopt a flock for even more chances to win
Can My Office, Club, or Sports Team Participate?
Absolutely! Businesses, community groups, clubs, and sports teams are welcome to participate. Corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Contact Andrew Wilinski at awilinski@braininjurysvcs.org or 703-451-8881, ext. 238, for more information.
Are the Ducks Real?
No—our racing ducks are 100% rubber!
Can I Keep My Duck After the Race?
Yes! If you attend the race in person, you may take your adopted duck home after the event.
