José Lopez Massó’s story is one of resilience, leadership, advocacy, and impact. After losing his vision at age 31 due to glaucoma, José turned adversity into purpose — first as a client of Lighthouse of Broward and later as one of the organization’s most visible and influential leaders.

Today, he leads advocacy and public affairs efforts that advance policies and opportunities supporting the blind and visually impaired community throughout South Florida and beyond. A respected community leader, José was recognized by The Miami Herald as one of the “Miami Marvels” and was named AFP Broward’s 2025 Outstanding Fundraising Executive of the Year.
