About This Event

Have you been living with Parkinson’s disease for five or more years and now find yourself:

  • Struggling more with the motor and non-motor symptoms of PD?
  • Taking more time or needing help with dressing, grooming, meal preparation, shopping, paperwork, driving, and other tasks?
  • Experiencing changes in mood or thinking?
  • More concerned about the future?
  • Unable to do some things that you used to enjoy?

If so, you might be a good fit for APDA’s newest series – PRESS ON

This special 8-week program for people who are in the middle stages of Parkinson’s disease.

PRESS ON offers the opportunity for connecting with others with Parkinson’s disease for emotional support and sharing. The group also provides education about the progression of Parkinson’s disease and planning for the future.

Individuals who might be a good fit for the group are people who have been living with Parkinson’s for 5+ years and are experiencing noticeable symptoms of PD that make daily life harder. Care partners are encouraged to attend the PRESS ON sessions, although the individual with PD should be able to attend alone if necessary.

This 8-session program, APDA Parkinson Roadmap for Education and Support Services™ (PRESS), provides an opportunity for people with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) and one partner or another family member to meet with others facing a similar experience and share coping strategies regarding day-to-day issues related to living with Parkinson’s. For many people with PD, the program is a gateway into PD education, support services, and advocacy available in your community. PRESS is a place to share feelings in a safe, caring environment and gather to share information and resources. This program is facilitated by a licensed social worker, and includes guest speakers. 

Program happens from 10:30 - 12:00 pm at UCONN Health Neurology- Brain and Spine Center- 5 Munson rd. Farmington CT
