Teen Photo Camp

Registration ends Friday, 06/05/2026 11:59pm EDT

About This Event

ACP is excited to offer a fun, creative, and hands-on Teen Photography Camp designed for students ages 11–15 taught by veteran photography teacher Brook Hewitt from “Camera Class for Kids” and Drew Charter School. This week-long camp is perfect for beginners as well as students who already have some experience and want to grow their skills in a supportive, engaging environment.

Schedule
June 8-12 | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Each day will include a mix of learning, creating, and exploring. Students will take part in both indoor studio-style projects and outdoor photo walks, so they should come dressed in comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear for moving around and shooting in different environments.
Lunch Break:
Students will have a short break each day, so please pack a lunch and drink, (also consider packing sun block and bug spray)

What Students Will Learn
Campers will build a strong foundation in photography while exploring creative projects that make learning fun and meaningful. Topics include:
● Depth of Field
● Shutter Speed
● The Science of Light
● Composition & Visual Storytelling

Creative Projects
Students will apply their skills through exciting, hands-on projects such as:
● Food Photography
● Editorial Photography
● Social Justice Photography
● Toy Photography
● Fashion Photography

These projects are designed to help students express themselves, think creatively, and understand how photography can communicate ideas and tell stories. Students are welcome to bring their own cameras, but cameras can be provided upon request.

This class will meet Monday, June 8 - Friday, June 12,  from 10 am-1 pm.

About the Instructor
With over 30 years of teaching experience, I have spent the last 13 years specializing in photography education, helping students discover their creativity through the lens. I currently teach within the school system while also running my own photography and teaching business, where I design engaging, hands-on learning experiences for students of all ages. Outside of the classroom, I’m a creative super hero! I love to do and make “all the things”! My current obsessions are dance and upcycle sewing and fashion. I’m passionate about creating a fun, supportive environment where students can build skills, express themselves, and fall in love with photography.
