Basecamp 2026 — Wildhaven Sonoma, Healdsburg, CA
Tuesday, October 27 (4 pm) – Thursday, October 29 (10 am)
Our 5th Annual Basecamp is where we connect outdoor industry leaders with public policy champions to promote California's outdoor economy and equitable access to the outdoors.
Escape the office and join us for a couple nights alongside the beautiful and aesthetic Russian River. We'll host outdoor outings, purposeful workshops and roundtables, panel discussions, uplifting speakers, and empowering meetings that will leave you feeling reinvigorated about your role in the work that we do and the overall outdoor ecosystem.
This is an opportunity for California's outdoor industry and partners to come together to explore ideas, discuss issues impacting California's outdoor economy, network with each other, and reconnect with the outdoors. The event is open to members, potential members, and partners.
This theme for this year's Basecamp is Built to Last. From the legacy moving forward with Outdoors for All and California Jobs First to gear designed to last a lifetime to public lands protected for generations — California is building a legacy for the outdoors that is meant to endure. Over two days at Basecamp, we'll explore what durability means across the outdoor recreation economy.
Where else does an outdoor industry brand founder end up around a fire pit with a county supervisor, a land trust director, and a representative from GO-Biz? Basecamp has brought together attendees from Columbia Sportswear Company, REI Co-op, VF Corporation, Hipcamp, and Little Kamper with the California Natural Resources Agency, Pacific Crest Trail Association, Catalina Island Conservancy, Cal Poly Humboldt, Mammoth Lakes Trails and Public Access Foundation, and California Mountain Biking Coalition. Our event is intentionally intimate and a relaxed environment to allow for meaningful connections to happen.

We'll gather at WildHaven Sonoma, 2411 Alexander Valley Road, Healdsburg, CA 95448. WildHaven Sonoma is 20 minutes from the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa and under 2 hours from SFO.

Our 2026 Welcome Keynote: José G. González
We're thrilled to announce that José G. González will keynote our welcome program for the 5th Annual Basecamp on Tuesday evening at Wildhaven Sonoma! José is an educator and conservationist whose work centers on equity and inclusion in the environmental, outdoor, and conservation fields. He is the Founder of Latino Outdoors and currently serves as the inaugural Equity Officer for the East Bay Regional Park District. José sits on the board of Parks California and serves as a Commissioner on the California Boating & Waterways Commission. He holds a B.A. from UC Davis and an M.S. from the University of Michigan School of Natural Resources & Environment. He also appreciates a witty pun.
José has spent his career addressing a question we keep circling back to: Who is California's outdoor economy actually for? Opening our programming on Built to Last with José feels right.
Tickets & Accommodations
Every registration includes full access to Basecamp programming and delicious, health-conscious meals by California Girl Catering: two breakfasts, lunch, the keynote dinner, and happy hours. Accommodation registrations include your event ticket plus glamping at Wildhaven Sonoma on the Russian River — one price, no separate lodging booking required.
About the Ticket Options
Local meals & programming ticket. Full access to all programming, meals by California Girl Catering, and happy hours. No overnight accommodations. Ideal for attendees within driving distance of Healdsburg.
Single-occupancy safari tent. Two nights in a furnished safari tent to yourself — your event ticket is included, with full access to all programming, happy hours, and meals by California Girl Catering. You may share a safari tent with another participant or family that wants to tag along. Any other participant hoping to join for programming or meals must purchase an individual ticket.
An ADA-accessible tent is available — contact us at registration and we'll reserve it for you.

- Accommodations include linens, towels, and heated bedding. Wildhaven is a glamping site: expect shared bathhouses, fire pits, and the Russian River out your front door.
- Overnight registrations cover Tuesday and Wednesday nights (October 27–28), with checkout Thursday morning.
- On-site accommodations are limited.

Clean Bathrooms & Showers
Cleanliness is essential with glamping. WildHaven's extra-clean central bathroom building is a 30-60 second walk from your bed, with hot showers and changing rooms.
Complimentary Coffee & Tea
Start your day like you do at home with complimentary coffee service available at reception from 8-10a. Includes a selection of teas and hot chocolate with marshmallows for the kids (or kids at heart).
Outdoor Communal Cooking Area
Our covered outdoor cooking area makes mealtime a whole lot easier. While every tent and cabin has a firepit, many guests cook using WildHaven's 5 gas BBQs with side burners, picnic tables, and a dish-cleaning station with soap & sponges.
Private River Access
Soak your feet or jump right in. We’re lucky to have 1/3 of a mile of private riverfront on a pristine, scenic stretch of the Russian River. Guests love WildHaven's swimming hole (with a shallow entry point for kids & dogs), placing camp chairs in the water, or launching innertubes or kayaks. Learn more in WildHaven's photo gallery.
Open Spaces & Views
Spread out and relax in the large open spaces of WildHaven's 10-acre property, with views of the Alexander Valley. These include a large wooden deck, a large grassy bluff above the river, a shaded field under large oaks, and other places to picnic or hang up a hammock.
Camp Store
Treat yourself at the Wildhaven Store. WildHaven's focus on Sonoma County items to create a wine-country picnic or spice up mealtime:
- Wine, bubbly, beer, hard seltzer, canned cocktails
- Picnic items (salami, cheeses, crackers)
- Ice cream, chocolate bars, s’mores kits
- Water, soft drinks, firewood, ice
