About the Speaker

Over the past 10 years, national speaker and performer Martina Mathisen has used her love of history and storytelling to create interactive presentations where she brings fascinating historical figures to life. Her first program, “Meet Marie Antoinette”, delighted audiences — but not before months of research, scriptwriting and memorization, followed by work with a voice coach, a theater director and costume designer. Continuing with this passion, she stepped into the buckskin tunic of Sacagawea telling stories of the incredible journey with Lewis and Clark. The quirky flapper Flora was soon to follow recounting her experiences in Chicago during the 1920s. As audiences requested more characters, Mathisen created new presentations. She dons the iconic dark glasses of fashion designer Edith Head in “The Woman Who Dressed Hollywood." Other programs include “Cleopatra: The Last Pharaoh of Egypt”, “The Golden Age of Hollywood with Gossip Columnist Louella Parsons” and “The Six Wives of Henry VIII,” in which she portrays all six wives.
