Maui Huliau Film Festival
The Huliau + Hisako Film Showcase highlights a collection of original short films created by Maui youth through a spring collaboration with Hisako Film Lab as well as Maui Huliau Foundation’s in-school and after-school programs.The program features both documentary and narrative works that explore issues impacting Maui communities and reflect the creativity and diverse perspectives of young storytellers across the island.
Films touch on topics such as strengthening connections to ʻāina, research on coral resilience in a changing ocean, and challenges facing youth and families, including language and cultural barriers, addiction, and pressures around land development in a changing Maui.
