Amy Stallings: a 17th-Century Living History Presentation

Amy Stallings first visited the site of the 1607 fort as a William & Mary freshman and was instantly smitten. She remained in the area to pursue a PhD in early American history with an outside field of Tudor and Stuart history, taking particular interest in the ongoing connections between political events in Britain and their colonial repercussions. An adjunct professor at W&M since 2016, she always looks forward to sharing Historic Jamestowne with students in the college’s National Institute of American History and Democracy program (NIAHD).

Amy began working part-time at Jamestown in April 2022, helping to develop historic programming such as “Maids to Virginia” and the Women of Jamestown tours. Interacting with the public in both third- and first-person contexts gives her the opportunity to combine her research interests with her theatre background and come to a fuller appreciation of the humanity of Jamestown’s residents. Her current passion project is investigating Bacon’s Rebellion and the life of Lady Frances Berkeley.
