Boys & Girls Club of Bainbridge Island is dedicated to ensuring that our community’s young people have greater access to quality programs and services that help them succeed academically, live healthy lifestyles and become leaders.
Please join us for a night of celebrating our kids and community successes in 2013, and hear about the plans and projects we have in place to broaden our reach in 2014.
A cocktail reception and silent auction will be followed by a sumptuous dinner. Master of Ceremonies Rob Beattie will lead our program, which will feature an entertaining and enlightening speech by our very own Bainbridge Island Police Chief, Matt Hamner. What makes Chief Hamner the perfect guest for our Boys & Girls Club Gala? Check out these Chief Hamner fun facts:
Matthew Hamner was raised on a farm in rural Shelby County, Indiana, where he graduated from Southwestern High School in 1984. He and his seven brothers are all Eagle Scouts, which is an Indiana state record.
Hamner was elected to the Franklin Township School Board in 2004 where he served as secretary for two years and president for two years. He also owned a grass-cutting and snowplowing business for 10 years where he was able to teach his own children the value of thrift and hard work. His oldest son served a two year mission in Busan, South Korea and used the 12,000 dollars he saved working for his dad to pay for the cost of the mission.
For 25 years, Hamner has been married to Kimberlie (nee Kelly) Hamner and they have three sons and four daughters. Hamner enjoys working with his children in sports and other various activities and is an active member of his church.
Free childcare will be provided during the Gala at the Boys & Girls Club. Contact the Club at (206) 436-1860 to register your child or for more information.
