Each year, thousands of students across Kent County walk into their first day of school without the basic supplies they need to learn confidently.
The Big Backpack Build fights these barriers by mobilizing volunteers, businesses, schools and nonprofits to assemble and distribute thousands of backpacks filled with essential school supplies to the students in Kent County who need them most.
This year, the Big Backpack Build will impact 15,000 students. Backpacks will be assembled August 11 at DeVos Place.

This year, the Big Backpack Build is more personal than ever. Through our Givebutter campaign, you can choose a specific school to support putting your gift directly behind the students and teachers you care about most.
Right now, 32 schools across Michigan are requesting backpacks. You can browse them, pick your school, and give directly to their fundraiser in minutes.
Don't see your school? If you know a school that should be on the list, have them reach out to kim@storehousemi.org to find out if they qualify. There's still room to add more.
